The
Extra Month of Purusottam by Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami
Maharaj, first published in Bengali as an Editorial in the Math's Sri
Gaudiya Darshan magazine. Of particular interest as this year the
Vedic calendar has thirteen months instead of twelve. This extra month
is known as 'Purusottam'.
Purusottam
month, the question has arisen that since this year there is the additional
month of Purusottam and it comes within the
first month of chaturmasya, then in what way will fasting be observed
during this month?
The answer is that because this
additional month is special for the Lord's service, it will be followed
in a similar way as to the month of Karttik, the last of the four months
of chaturmasya. (First posted in July 2004.)
