Sripad Avadhut Maharaj and Sripad Akinchan Maharaj
lead chanting in the heart of the city

June 2005:  pictures complementing Sripad Akinchan Maharaj's recent 'Orange revolution' web-log.

Khreschatyk Street, in the center of the city, is now famous as the place where the "Orange Revolution" began. At the end of last year, at the height of the revolution, three hundred tents pitched in this popular street brought the country to a standstill. On weekends the street is closed to vehicular traffic, so we could walk right up the center of it!
Sripad Akinchan Maharaj writes:

" Avadhut Maharaj and I — in our bright saffron robes — bring our own 'orange revolution' to the street, attracting the interest and curiosity of the Sunday afternoon crowd...."
Independence Square.
Returning along Khreschatyk Street...
...and down Tarasa Shevchenka Boulevard...
...and passing in front of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera Theatre.
Onwards by train from Kiev to the next destination: Odessa.
