Nitya Hari Prabhu at the San Francisco airport on his cell phone arranging with Vishnu Prabhu in Govardhan the menu for this year's celebration: subji, puris, and sweet-rice. |
We arrive about two days after leaving San Francisco in Govardhan, where the Srila Sridhar Swami Seva Ashram rises high into the sky. We offer our obeisances to Sri Giriraj before going down the parikrama path and getting to work... |

...with sacks of potatoes... |
...and piles of chilies. |
A team of rollers helps... |
...prepare the bhoga... |
...which is then offered to Sri Giriraj...
...and distributed to all the Brajabasis and pilgrims taking part in the parikrama around Sri Govardhan Hill. |
Each year Om Prakash Prabhu (centre) offers use of his home for Nitya Hari Prabhu to set up a tent along the Sri Govardhan Parikrama Marg and pass out thousands of plates of prasadam. This year around 20,000 plates of prasadam were distributed... |
...to young... |
...and old. |
Everyone is eager for prasadam!
We had regular groups that have been stopping by for the past few years and who were excited to see the welcoming Math's banner flying high over the tent... |
...as well as new individuals interested and wanting to learn more about the Math and our dear Srila Gurudev. |

As the day progressed with more serving, chanting and preaching the sky began to get cloudy and damp. Vishnu Prabhu started talking about how Govardhan was in a terrible drought that had killed many of the crops. Just then the clouds opened up and showered us with a sprinkle of auspicious rain. However the sun was back out soon enough and we continued to serve the refreshed pilgrims. |
Thus ends a fulfilling day of prasadam seva. |
