31 January 2007

Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharva Govindasundarjiu on this auspicious occasion.

The morning began with an extensive and wonderful discourse from the lotus lips of our Srila Gurudev, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj. Srila Gurudev spoke at great length of the holy Pastimes and glories of Lord Nityananda Prabhu, in a deeply absorbed mood for over an hour.

Srila Gurudev concluded his lecture with this sweet, hopeful message for us all:

"Heno Nitai bine bhai, Radha-Krsna paite nai, drdha kori' dharo Nitaira paya. We are very fortunate souls that we heard the divine Name of Nityananda Prabhu and we are following as possible by us to Nityananda Prabhu's line, and that is more clean and clear for the conditioned souls. Mahaprabhu many times gave many conditions, but Nityananda Prabhu [gave] no conditions. Only, 'You surrender to Chaitanyadev, surrender to Gaurangadev, surrender to Nimai Visvambhar, and you will be rescued. Ye jana Gauranga bhaje sei amara prana.' "

Noon arati, with the special remembrance of Lord Nityananda on this day.

A special preparation dear to Lord Nityananda, and prepared annually on this day in our Nabadwip Math: kolai siddhya, a mixture of muri, dahl, spices and large chunks of chillies and a variety of cooked vegetables.

Srila Gurudev took his customary ride around the Math premises in the afternoon, visiting other residents of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math.

Sri Giriraj's Gupta Govardhan Mandir has become famous in Nabadwip as the 'Jal Mandir,' 'Water Temple.'
