Disappearance festival of the founder of the Sri Chaitanya Math and worldwide Sri Gaudiya Maths, Bhagavan Sri Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupad.

To Whom Shall I Convey My Joy? Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur expresses his joy and sorrow at completing his commentary on Sri Chaitanya-charitamrta. Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj specially requested that this poem be recited on the disappearance day of Srila Saraswati Thakur. Posted on the Math's GaudiyaDarshan.com website.

"We were rendering duty in his sick bed, I was also among them, my duty was from 2 o'clock at night to 4 o'clock in the morning. Just before 24 hours of his departure he called for me and asked me to sing a song: Sri Rupa Manjari pada sei mora sampada, this famous song which is supposed to be the highest realisation of any Gaudiya Vaishnava devotee. Then after 24 hours, on the first of January early morning he left the world."

"Our Govinda Maharaj is now the chief inspiration behind that [Srila Sridhar Maharaj's] preaching ... He was an expert in kirtan and playing the mrdanga; his kirtan was always ecstatic. From the time of his coming here to Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, the Transcendental Service of the Deities Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharva Govindasundar became manifest more and more beautifully and gloriously. This gave us much joy. For this, Srila Sridhar Maharaj delegated all service responsibility of his Math, preaching and devotees to Govinda Maharaj..."

At the time of Iswar Puri's disappearance, he asked those two of his disciples, Govinda and Kashishvar: 'Go to Krishna Chaitanya and serve Him as long as you live.' So after the disappearance of Iswar Puripad, both of them went to Puri and surrendered themselves to the divine feet of Mahaprabhu."

"What Srila Swami Maharaj has done, Guru Maharaj always told: it is not a man's work. No one human can do this job that Srila Swami Maharaj has done. It is my experience, unbelievably happy experience, I have seen everywhere has spread Krishna Consciousness, everyone knows now the Name of Radha Krishna, the Name of Nitai Chaitanya, Pancha Tattva. Even in front of the Kremlin they are telling Hare Krishna! The whole world now knows Hare Krishna! But it is not a man's job. The embodiment of Nityananda Prabhu can do it. We consider as Srila Guru Maharaj said, that he (Srila Swami Maharaj Prabhupad) is 'shaktyavesa avatar', that is, Nityananda Prabhu only can do this, to distribute Gaura Mahaprabhu, to distribute Radha Krishna devotion; it is not possible by man."

Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad inundated the world with Krishna consciousness. In the excerpt The Universal Conception of Guru from one of his essays, he smashes the sectarian misconception that the Spiritual Master is limited to a particular person, form, or institution, and establishes the universal conception of Guru. This lecture was originally published in The Harmonist in 1936, on the Advent Day of His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. It was reprinted as the Preface to Srila Sridhar Maharaj's Sri Guru and His Grace in 1983.

Excerpt about Srila Vasudev Ghosh (today is his disappearance day) from Sermons of the Guardian of Devotion, Volume I, by His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj:
"In the Pastimes of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu, one of the principal Gopis of Srimati Radharani, one of the asta-sakhis of Vrindavan, came here as Vasudev Ghosh. In appreciation of Mahaprabhu's descent here, he says, 'How could I keep up my life if Gauranga Mahaprabhu did not come down? If I did not come in touch with Gauranga Mahaprabhu, how could I live at all? That is so near to life, so near to vitality. It is the vitality of the vitality. If I had not come in touch with such a potent vitality, I should have been finished.' In this way, our intimacy may accommodate Sriman Mahaprabhu. Vasudev Ghosh said, 'I could not live at all if such nectar had not been extended into me. It would have been completely impossible to go on with my life.'"

"The day after Srila Guru Maharaj gave Srila Govinda Maharaj sannyas was Guru Maharaj's own Appearance Day and he was very happy on that day. Early that morning I went to see him and said, 'Srila Guru Maharaj, yesterday you gave Srila Govinda Maharaj sannyas; but I think he took sannyas many, many lifetimes ago.'
"He replied, 'Oh, you want to say that this is only being done to show the people who he is, but actually he is much more than that?' Srila Guru Maharaj was smiling and laughing, and on that morning, his own Appearance Day, he sat on his chair and for maybe two or three hours he talked about Srila Govinda Maharaj. This was the Appearance Day of the Guru but the Guru was doing kirttan of the disciple!"
