Audio: Morning class by Sripad B.S.
Goswami Maharaj to the Western devotees in our Dum Dum Park
Temple last week. His Holiness begins by answering the question:
"In the Gita is a verse mentioning the mind can be our best
friend or our worst enemy, also we've heard Srila Gurudev say
that until we reach the plane of ruchi, there can still be some
lust. Then he goes on to say about cultivating dharma-buddhi.
These are all nice things to read, but how do we actually practically
do this in our spiritual life...?"

We are ten years old today! Today is the the 10th Anniversary
of the Math's official website, http://www.scsmath.com
which has now been online since 1995! The site was set in motion
by Sripad Bhakti Lalita Akinchan Maharaj when the World Wide Web
was in its infancy, and was sponsored by His Holiness up until the time he took the renounced order, sannyas, in 2003. Kesavananda Prabhu of USA has generously sponsored the site since then.
Sripad Akinchan Maharaj writes:
"The Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math and Seva Ashram web pages
were presented on the Internet for the first time on Apara Ekadasi,
May 24th, 1995. We invite you to see what these
original web pages looked like a decade ago, when they appeared
on the Internet through the wonder of the World Wide Web...."

"We hear a tremendous crash! on the corrugated iron roof
of the carport outside the window of Srila Gurudeva's veranda.
We all momentarily start at the sound, then smile when we identify
it: it is the sound of the beginning of the mango season."

Recent
pictures from Nabadwip and Dum Dum Park including the
arrival of several devotees from Brazil, and various scenes from
around the Math's grounds in Nabadwip.
In
the last few days, Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj
did not talk very much, complaining of a lack of air. But this
morning he felt better and spoke to us. He was happy and enthusiastic
and mentioned how theists are trying to perform some relief-work
in this work but the atheists are doing everything to hinder that
work. Srila Gurudev mentioned how some devotees are trying to
build a dispensary in the neighborhood and how the atheists are
doing everything to hinder it, creating obstacles and even charging
to release the permits, but the atheists are building big buildings
and they get permits without much problem.
Gurudev then quoted two verses from Gita: "yada yada hi dharmasya..."
and "paritranaya sadhunam...." He explained how the
sadhu has to suffer in this world -- and it is not some small
suffering. He said that the word "paritranaya" means
"much suffering." And when the sadhu's suffering comes
to its maximum, then Krishna appears to release that suffering.
We can see how the situation of suffering in this world is such
that sometimes even sadhus are killing other sadhus.
Such suffering makes us humble and tolerant, and makes us offer
sincere honour to all.
Seeing Srila Gurudev suffer makes us pray to Krishna to please
dilute his suffering among all of us, his devotees around the
world. If any of us would have to suffer for a moment what he
is suffering we would probably drop dead.
At the same time, His Divine Grace remains always situated in
a transcendental position untouched by anything belonging to this
material plane. We can witness how infinite perfect knowledge,
sweetness, affection and love constantly emanate from him. Seeing
this, we wish to never go away from his lotus feet, but instead
to stay serving him just like those few exalted souls that are
serving him personally, trying to appease his suffering in this
world. We cannot but offer our most humble respects to all those
exalted and honourable devotees: Srila Gurudev's personal servants.
